Publisher's Summary
JACK RYAN IS TRAPPED. AN ASSASSIN INCOMING. TIME TO TAKE CONTROL.
A Russian plot to seize the Panama Canal plunges President Jack Ryan into a desperate fight for his life in the latest entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.
President Jack Ryan travels to Colombia to support the president who is facing a challenge from autocratic forces. What seems like an ordinary opportunity to preach the values of democracy quickly turns into a nightmare when a full-blown military coup erupts.
President Ryan and his Secret Service team are cut off and out of communication. In Washington, the Vice President is coordinating a military response, but there's still one more obstacle.
One of the main forces behind the coup is the ruthless criminal organization known as the Camarilla. They've had their tentacles deep inside the plot to overthrow the government. And now they have an unexpected opportunity they can't resist - the chance to kill President Jack Ryan.

If you read this series, you’re going to read this one. I can’t imagine a review dissuading me from reading a book in a series within which I’m already invested. That said, if there were other books you had on your shelf, and you were trying to decide which one to read, you can put this one on the back burner. There was a lot of character introduction with two new team members, the details of their apprehension in being brought into the fold, then dropped into the deep end. Then there was the antagonist’s plot which was, well, they are all convoluted, but this one was arguably over-the-top. I think if you are reading the series, you have a pretty obvious switch for suspension-of-disbelief, we use it for the gray man and Mitch, and all of the characters we’ve come to know and love… But this book… It was hard to stay in that mode. I’m just writing it off as a necessary link in the chain, hoping the next book is a little more punchy 👊🤞
